Ozone Therapy and EBOO
Extra-corporeal Blood Oxygenation and Ozonation EBOO is a procedure, which was developed and used in medical departments with the aim of amplifying the results observed with ozone. Relying confidently on the valid principles of ozone therapy, a medical team endeavored to increase its therapeutic efficacy. More than fifteen-years, that team developed an apparatus that makes it possible to treat large quantities of blood with ozone in an extracorporeal circulation. 
 The development of EBOO combines modern membrane hemofiltration used in the treatment of heart, kidney, and liver failure with infusion of therapeutic concentrations of ozone gas into the artificial organ or dialyses. Although ignored by conventional western medicine system, the healing properties of ozone have been known and applied in medical practice in mainland Europe since the beginning of the First World War, where it was applied topically to remedy gangrene and promote wound healing. Extensive investigation on oxidative stress biomarkers and clinical trials are a way to validate this new technique further.
 So it’s shown that EBOO is an infrequent method where the body’s blood is slowly circulated through a machine that ozonates the blood. The blood is then infused back to the body. The whole procedure takes about an hour to complete.
 The EBOO technique can be easily adapted for use in hemodialysis also. The standard therapeutic cycle lasts for 7 weeks in which 14 treatment sessions of 1 hour are performed. After a session of EBOO, the interaction of ozone with blood components results in 4–5-fold increased levels of thiobarbituric acid reactants and a proportional decrease in plasma protein thiols without any appreciable erythrocyte haemolysis. On the basis of preliminary in vitro evidence, these simple laboratory parameters may represent a useful complement in the routine monitoring of biological compliance to the treatment. The clinical experience gained so far confirms the great therapeutic potential of EBOO in patients with severe peripheral arterial disease, coronary disease, cholesterol embolism, severe dyslipidemia, Made lung disease, and sudden deafness of vascular origin. Extensive investigation on oxidative stress biomarkers and clinical trials are under way to validate this new technique further.
 EBOO is also reported to have remedied necrotic fasciitis, an often-fatal bacterial infection resistant to antibiotics. Ozone's anti-bacterial and viral properties have been employed successfully in water purification. The International Society of Blood Purification has recognized EBOO/RHP as warranting clinical investigation as a reducing treatment. Ozone has been shown to disinfect extracorporeal blood of viruses.
 Oxygenators designed for heart surgery and kidney dialysis may not suitable for EBOO. Due to the oxidative nature of ozone, the filter components and membranes will block up and inhibit the effective exchange of gas, possibly releasing toxic compounds into the circulating blood. An economical ozone resistant gas exchange device has been specifically designed for the ozonation of human blood during extra-corporeal circulation.
 It is known that there are not many places, which provide the actual EBOO therapy in which almost all of the blood is assonated in a period of one hour. There are an increasing number of autohemotherapy clinics that provide a partial blood ozonation. However, EBOO is not yet available in any English speaking countries.
 Ozone therapy

Ozone therapy may be administered in a variety of ways.

  1. Intramuscular injection: A mixture of oxygen and ozone is injected into the muscles of the buttocks.
  2. Rectal insufflation: A mixture of oxygen and ozone is introduced into the rectum and absorbed through the intestines.
  3. Autohemotherapy: Between 10-15 mL of the patient’s blood is removed, treated with a mixture of oxygen and ozone and reinjected into the patient.
  4. Intra-articular injection: Ozone-treated water is injected into the patient’s joints to treat arthritis, rheumatism and other joint diseases.
  5. Ozonated water: Ozone is bubbled through water that is used to cleanse wounds, burns, and skin infections, or to treat the mouth after dental surgery.
  6. Ozonated oil: Ozone is bubbled through olive or safflower oil, forming a cream that is used to treat fungal infections, insect bites, acne, and skin problems.
  7. Ozone bagging: Ozone and oxygen are pumped into an airtight bag that surrounds the area to be treated, allowing the body tissues to absorb the mixture.
  8. Intravenous Ozonated Saline drip: Ozone is bubbled through saline, which molecule by molecule is put into blood circulation and immediately reacts with blood components.


How does Ozone work in the body?
